Cash Offer goes for a third straight win in Saturday’s Broadway at Aqueduct

By New York Hot List Staff

Cash Offer comes to Saturday’s six-furlong $100,000 Broadway Stakes at Aqueduct with two consecutive victories. The wins both came since the 5-year-old mare started to race from off the pace.

The Mark Hennig trained New York-bred won an allowance in December and then the La Verdad at the Big A.  The field of six in the state-bred Broadway is loaded with early speed which should once again provide an ideal set-up for Cash Offer’s new running style.

Reddam Racing’s Cash Offer, who has parlayed a new stalk-and-pounce running style into back-to-back wins, will look to add to her coffers in the Broadway. Trained by Mark Hennig, the 4-year-old Shackleford bay notched an impressive one-length score last out in the La Verdad, contested on a sloppy Big A main track on January 4.

“She’s doing super,” said Hennig. “We got into that race two races back and it seemed like an opportunity to let her settle a little bit, if she wanted to. Back in the summer when Mario Gutierrez rode her (July 6 at Belmont), she settled a little off horses that day and I wanted to try it again and it worked out well.”

In the Broadway, the daughter of Shackleford will cutback in distance from her recent stakes win at seven furlongs.

“Stretching out to seven furlongs last time, we definitely wanted to try and come from off it,” continued Hennig. “But, I think she’s versatile. She breaks sharp all the time and could find herself there again.”

Hay Field also figures to benefit from the projected hot early pace. The popular 7-year-old mare has been claimed out of her last five starts, most recently by trainer Antonio Arriaga who paid $40,000 for her on February 2. The leading money earner in the field with more than $480,000 in purses has a stellar record at Aqueduct of 12: 6-4-0.

The Broadway is carded as race 8 in a nine-race card and will serve as the middle leg of the Saturday Special Pick 3 from the New York Hot List team. Full analysis and picks for this card are available free of charge on this website.
