How about a Pick 3 during the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival

By New York Hot List Staff

Wagering possibilities abound during the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival. There are Pick 4s, Pick 5s, and even a brand new 20¢ minimum low-takeout two-day Pick 6. With eight Grade 1 stakes being offered on Saturday, the Pick 3 is a great wager to consider playing.

One strategy to use is to identify a horse that you feel is a likely winner, single that horse, and then spread in the other two legs hoping that favorites don’t win those races. For me, World of Trouble is one of those horses.

World of Trouble is the morning line favorite in the Jaipur (G1) which is carded as race 6. The Jason Servis trainee is one of the best sprinters in the country and he comes into the race after winning the Carter Handicap (G1) on the main track at Aqueduct and followed that with a victory in the Turf Sprint (G2) at Churchill Downs.

“He’s a killer horse. A monster. A champion horse,” said the usually reserved Servis. “He has a Grade 1 on the dirt and this is a Grade 1 on the turf. He’s been training pretty good. I’m very pleased with the way he is coming up to this race. I’d say I’m cautiously optimistic.”

World of Trouble faces a field of nine which includes Disco Partner who has a stellar 14: 9-2-0 record on the Belmont Park turf. That means that there are other horses that will get used in the first leg of the Pick 3.

The second leg is the Acorn (G1) for 3-year-old fillies which has also drawn has a field of nine. The Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Serengeti Empress is a lukewarm 5-2 favorite. With a single in leg 1, the plan is to use six horses here looking for a longshot to come in.

This Pick 3 will end with the Woody Stephens (G1) which has eleven 3-year-olds going seven furlongs. In here, Mind Control is another 5-2 favorite. Once again, the strategy is to spread and include six horses in the final leg.

This $1 Pick 3 has a total of 36 combinations (1 x 6 x 6) for a total investment of $36. That would set up the chance to make a nice profit if World of Trouble wins and gets the ticket to the 6 x 6 possibilities.

Be sure to look for the Saturday Pick 3 Special from the New York Hot List which is available on this website. Good luck on all of your wagers this weekend.
